Biography

John Bosco, known as Don Bosco, was born in Piedmont, Italy, to a poor farming family. At age nine, he had a prophetic dream where Jesus and Mary showed him his life's mission: transforming aggressive boys (represented as wolves) into gentle youths (lambs). Ordained a priest, he dedicated his life to the impoverished, neglected, and exploited boys of Turin during the Industrial Revolution. He established the 'Oratory,' a safe haven combining play, religious instruction, and job training. Refusing the harsh corporal punishment common at the time, he developed the 'Preventive System' based on reason, religion, and loving kindness. He founded the Salesian Society, named after St. Francis de Sales, to continue his educational mission globally.

Wisdom & Quotes

It is not enough to love the young; they must know that they are loved.
Without confidence and love, there can be no true education.
Run, jump, have all the fun you want at the right time, but, for heaven's sake, do not commit sin!
