Biography

Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in North Macedonia, she joined the Sisters of Loreto and taught in India. In 1946, she experienced a 'call within a call' to leave the convent and serve the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, distinguished by their white saris with blue borders. They built hospices, orphanages, and leper colonies around the world. Mother Teresa became a global icon of Christian charity, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. After her death, her private diaries revealed that for the last 50 years of her life, she experienced a profound spiritual darkness and feeling of separation from God, sharing in Christ's agony on the cross while maintaining a radiant outward joy.

Wisdom & Quotes

Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.
If you judge people, you have no time to love them.
Peace begins with a smile.
I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.
